Bathing Buddha – A spiritual cultural festival of all Buddhists around the world

Bathing the Buddha is a spiritual and cultural festival of all Buddhists around the world. This ritual is very important in most Buddhist traditions.

“Today I bathe the Tathagata
The wisdom and light of great merit
The sentient beings of the three realms are sinking
To see the world manifest the Dharma body”

Every year on the occasion of Buddha’s birthday, the Buddha bathing ritual is performed very solemnly and solemnly. The origin and meaning of the Buddha bathing ceremony originates from the Buddha’s birth event recorded in the scriptures. Bathing the Buddha is an opportunity for Buddhists to practice a mindful lifestyle, cultivate humility, and direct their hearts to the Buddha, or in other words, to the perfection of virtue and wisdom. Water is a symbol of cleansing. Cleansing from dirty to clean, from impure to clear and pure. Therefore, the Buddha bathing ritual both shows respect and offerings and also represents the purification of impurities and afflictions of the mind. Therefore, the above efforts of each participant will be the most important factors for us to transform, control and sublimate our own consciousness.

When we scoop the first ladle of water, bathe the left shoulder of the statue, we wish: I wish to abandon all evil. When we scoop the second ladle of water, bathe the right shoulder of the statue: I wish to do all good. The third ladle of water bathed at the feet of the Buddha: I wish to save all sentient beings. These are the three profound meanings of the Buddha bathing ceremony.
